The Wells-Rapp Center for Mallet Percussion Research is opening in April 2023!
During the first months of the year we have been moving in the instruments and collections, and setting up the museum.
Kutztown University has hired Dr. Matthew Coley as the first Executive Director and Curator of the CMPR. Click here to read the KU news release.
Events are held in the CMPR Performance Hall.
April 18, 2023, 7:30 PM (free) – KU Percussion Ensemble performs the FIRST concert in the CMPR with the percussionists of University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece and piano soloist Athanasios Ramadanidis. (Facebook Event)
April 20, 2023, 8:30-9:30 AM (free) – Historian and curatorial collaborator, David Harvey, will present a lecture on the history of the xylophone and marimba. (Facebook Event)
April 20, 2023, 11:00 AM (free) – Matthew Coley hosts a lunchtime concert/meet and greet. He will perform solo works, as well as music by Bjorn Berkhout with the Kent State University Percussion Ensemble, Matt Holm, director. Composer will be in attendance. (Facebook Event)
