Percussion Ensemble Day 2024
New registration deadline and lowered fee.
For High School Percussionists. Anyone that registers can participate, no audition required.
REGISTRATION CLOSES MARCH 1, 2024 by 5:00 p.m.
$50 PARTICIPATION FEE – Due April 14 (day of event). Cash accepted, or please make a check out to Kutztown University with "CMPR HPE Day" on the memo line and bring this to check-in.
PLACEMENT VIDEOS – Please send your videos or links to HPE Coordinator, Craig Mandelbaum at MalletPercCenter@kutztown.edu BY MARCH 1.
Please provide one video of your choice demonstrating your best ability for each instrument you choose on the form. This year's PMEA pieces are acceptable. We will assign you to appropriate parts and groups based on your video.
Part assignments, music, and final schedule will be distributed by early March.
SCHEDULE FOR THE HPE DAY:
9:30-10:15 a.m. – check in at CMPR welcome desk
10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. – Rehearsal block 1 (Please see directors to begin set up and preparations for rehearsal as soon as you check in.)
1:00-1:45 p.m. – Lunch (Provided on campus.)
1:50-2:35 p.m. – History of Marimba Ensembles presentation by Jill Work
2:40-3:20 p.m. – Hands on work shop TBA
3:30-6:00 p.m. – Rehearsal block 2
6:00-7:00 p.m. – Dinner break and set up for concert!
7:30 p.m. – Concert!
FAQ
Q: Do my students need to audition to participate?
A: All students will participate in the ensemble once signed up. The submitted videos are only for placement within an ensemble.
Q: I am a director/parent. Is there a place for me to stay during the day?
A: Yes! You are welcome to watch the rehearsal; we have many rooms for you to stay in during the day.
Q: How much does the event cost?
A: 50 Dollars.
Q: Is there a place to buy food during meal breaks?
A: Yes! There is a campus dining hall about a 5-minute walk from the center.
Q: Do my students need to bring sticks and mallets?
A: Students should bring sticks and mallets if they own them; however, we can provide them if they do not.
