• All instruments are provided by CMPR. You are welcome to bring your own instrument, but we have 120+ instruments in our collection and many of them are modern. Please reach out if you have questions.

• There is a concerto competition! It's open to all ages and the winners perform with an orchestra in Greece or the US. (There is a $60 additional application fee for entering the concerto competition. This will cover the cost of hiring an accompanist.)

– Participants are responsible for their own travel to and from Kutztown. The airports for this region include the Lehigh Valley, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia airports. Shuttles will be scheduled to and from airports. Please coordinate with us.

The Symposium for Mallet Percussion Players is designed to foster and support young artists of marimba, vibraphone, and xylophone for a future as a skilled practitioner of their career in music. Held in the world-class facility of the Wells-Rapp Center for Mallet Percussion Research alongside the Kutztown University Summer Music Festival, SMPP is an invaluable experience for high school and college students to learn from professionals in the top of their field.
